How Escapio Began
Escapio opened on Phetkasem Road in Hat Yai after its founder, Weerayuth Thammasuk, spent over a decade working with mechanical calibers — first at a regional distributor, then independently for private clients across Songkhla province. The name is drawn from the escapement mechanism, the small oscillating assembly that regulates timekeeping in a mechanical watch — a part that rewards patience to understand and care to handle.
The decision to open a dedicated workshop came from a gap Weerayuth kept noticing: owners of quality timepieces in the south of Thailand had limited access to serious servicing without travelling to Bangkok. Escapio was built to address that — a place where a watch could be assessed honestly, serviced properly, and returned with straightforward documentation of what was done.
The workshop has remained small by intention. Work is done by hand, one piece at a time, using calibrating equipment and tools maintained to the same standard we apply to the watches themselves. We don't take on volume we can't handle well, and we don't rush a service to fill a schedule.

To give owners of mechanical watches in Hat Yai and the surrounding region access to considered, well-documented servicing — and to explain what we do clearly enough that the owner understands the condition of their piece before and after every visit.

Manages client communication, service records and written reports. Makes sure documentation is complete, legible and passed to the owner at every handover.

Workshop Standards
Ultrasonic Cleaning
All movement parts are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath with watchmaker-grade solution before reassembly. Residual debris is cleared thoroughly without abrasive contact.
Timing Bench Verification
Every serviced movement is measured on a timing machine across six positions. Results are documented and shared with the owner as part of the service record.
Specification-Grade Lubricants
We use lubricants matched to each caliber's manufacturer guidance — correct viscosity and placement, applied with calibrated dispensers rather than by estimation.
Case Protection Protocol
Bezels, case flanks and crystals are covered or padded during bench work. We do not polish or refinish cases unless this is specifically discussed and agreed in advance.
Documentation at Every Stage
A written record is produced for each inspection and service — condition notes on intake, work completed, timing results, and any outstanding observations.
Secure Custody
Watches left for service are stored individually in labelled trays within a locked cabinet. Nothing is left on an open bench overnight or during absences.

Watch Repair and Servicing in Southern Thailand
Mechanical watch servicing requires an understanding of how individual calibers behave — their normal tolerances, their common wear patterns, and what the timing numbers mean in context. A movement that runs at +12 seconds per day on a balance-up reading and −8 on dial-down isn't necessarily in poor condition; the interpretation matters, and communicating that to the owner is part of what we do.
Hat Yai's humidity and temperature profile affects lubricant viscosity over time more noticeably than in cooler climates. Owners of pieces used daily in Thailand often find that service intervals recommended by European manufacturers need some adjustment. We factor regional conditions into our assessments and service notes.
Pre-owned watch transactions in Thailand are growing steadily, particularly around Hat Yai's trading community. A condition report that covers the movement's current state, identifies known issues and notes likely future needs gives both buyer and seller a practical reference — something to discuss clearly rather than speculate around.
Strap and bracelet work is often overlooked as a care category, but a poorly fitted metal bracelet causes unnecessary wear at the lug junction over time. Correctly tensioned spring bars and properly sized links reduce that risk and improve day-to-day comfort. It's a small job done well, or a small job done poorly — the difference is noticeable after a year of wear.
